Wings For Wine Country – A North Bay Fire Benefit
In case you missed it, on Saturday your favorite competition BBQ team partnered up with Livermore’s Tap 25, Swirl on the Square and Blazin’ By The Bay to raise over $4,400 for the Redwood Credit Union’s North Bay Fire Fund. The BBQ boys cooked up hundreds of pounds of wings to sell while Tap 25 poured beers and Swirl on the Square wine for all the people from all over the bay area that showed up to support the cause.
We were only able to raise as much as we did because of the very generous donations from Petaluma Poultry, Marin Sun Farms, Kinder’s BBQ and HenHouse Brewing. These amazing companies stepped up to the plate to help us help our friends up north. We can’t thank them enough for their support! Please support these local companies that support us.
Wings For Wine Country was a success! It could not of been possible without our hosts at Blacksmith Square in Livermore, Tap 25 and Swirl on the Square. Our BBQ brother Sergio from Blazin’ By The Bay brought out his massive cooker to help us cook the hundreds of pounds of wings that were donated to us. Finally, our volunteers Rachel Melby and Cheryl Mackey – you guys ROCK!
The entire day had a feeling of a community coming together to help their neighbors to the north, “If everyone is moving forward together, then success of rebuilding takes care of itself.” is how Sergio Salinas Pitmaster for Blazin’ By the Bay described the day of BBQ’ing wings for the cause.
Event volunteer Rachel Melby describes the day as “The outpouring of love and support from our friends in Livermore and beyond was truly staggering. What’s more – for the first time in two weeks, everyone around me was having fun again. Despite those in the Square who had lost everything, we were all smiling and having a great time.”
“The Northern California fires affected many of us on a deeply personal level.” said another event volunteer, Cheryl Mackey. “To see the number of people dedicated to helping and healing at the Wings for Wine Country benefit in Livermore was truly inspiring. Thank you to those individuals working tirelessly to provide hope and love during this difficult time.”
If you did miss the event (we’re really sorry, it was such a great time!!) and would like to help, you can still donate at the Wings For Wine Country home page. Those affected by the North Bay Fires can use all the help they can get!
Thank you again to all who made this benefit a success! We’re looking forward to our next event, the Mano A Mano Rib Throwdown!!
See you at the grill…
